Abstract

Indonesia, as a constitutional state that adheres to a democratic system, upholds the principle that all matters must be governed by law and that the highest sovereignty lies with the people. All existing powers must be based on the country’s constitution, namely the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. In the electoral process, one of the most common violations is money politics. Money politics in elections in Indonesia poses a serious threat to the integrity of democracy. This practice not only undermines the dignity of the people but also has the potential to produce corrupt governance, create inequality in politics, and damage the nation's value system. Firm and effective law enforcement is crucial to minimizing this practice. Using a normative juridical approach, this study explores the impact of money politics on democracy and the legal measures required to address it. Strengthening the integrity of election organizers and strict supervision are essential to ensuring fair and democratic elections.
